Do you sometimes think the person closest to you is the reason you have not achieved your dreams? Or perhaps they prevent you from reaching your potential? And if this person was more positive or supportive, would your life be different? Whether it be a husband, wife, mother, father, sister, brother, friend, colleague or boss, it is possible to reach your full potential living alongside others. It begins with focusing your energy in the right place and accepting others for who they are – warts and all!
I have lived with and loved my husband for 27 years – some values we share and others we don’t. There have certainly been times when we do not agree with each other – where we agree to disagree. Despite this we still wake each day and find at least one thing (often more!) to love about the other.
If you expect to change others and live in constant blame or criticism it will drain you of precious energy – energy that you need to devote yourself. Spend your time looking for answers within yourself rather than expecting someone else to provide or find them for you. Acceptance and respect of other’s opinions, being grateful and showing kindness are hallmarks of quality, long-term, fulfilling relationships and best of all we are left with an abundance of energy to focus on creating the best possible YOU!
