True Believers expect setbacks. They know that life is full of many experiences, with some more difficult than others and some that cause setbacks. But with strong belief, conviction and commitment, True Believers bounce back quickly, progressing even further as a result of what they learn from challenging times.
Our progress rests heavily on the way we see failure and the way we react to it. Those that have reached success have had failure after failure — of course it’s about what you learn from failure that matters.
Was there a tough period for you in the last few years — a time when you were down in the dumps? Maybe you’re still doing it tough. The events, which determine these tough times, can sometimes be out of our control. What is in our control is how we choose to move forward after the tough time. If we stay down in the dumps for too long, it becomes a difficult place to leave and a safe place to stay.
I’ve seen many people at their lowest point find the greatest and most unexpected gifts through their setbacks. Failures and setbacks may teach you valuable lessons that you might never have learnt otherwise. I say may because too often we don’t learn from where we have been.
As we are pulled, pushed and stretched in life, successful people learn to expect setbacks and follow up with a quick recovery – which builds resilience. Resilience is what keeps you from staying down in the valley for too long when the next setback arrives and what helps you decide to make recovery the only option!
