I have a declaration to make – I cringe when people make excuses! I’ve seen how making excuses can adversely affect life. When we make excuses we are saying that we are not responsible and that someone or something else is. I’m big on taking responsibility and I do cringe at excuses. I think you should too.
Most people strive to create a better life and although we know what action needs to be taken sometimes we make excuses to avoid doing what needs to be done.
Do these sound familiar?
I have to wait until…
I just don’t feel like it…
I don’t have the tools to…
I can’t because…
It’s not my fault….
It’s not my problem….
If only they had…
It’s too late now…
I don’t have time…..
Nothing identifies a mediocre person more quickly than excuses. Successful people strive towards a result without excuses. Confront your own excuses and take more responsibility. Own up to your shortfalls and instead of “if only” say “next time I’ll do better”. We are all leaders as parents, friends and team members. As a leader it’s really important to not make excuses. We must lead by example to see the world around us get better. Adopt the motto Results Rock – Excuses Do Not!
